Protected Area Highlights in Wadi Rum

Wadi Rum features 74,000 hectares of protected desert filled with red sand dunes, natural rock bridges, and narrow canyons.

Guided 4x4 jeep tours ranging from 2 to 8 hours are the best way to navigate this landscape. The red color of the sand comes from iron oxide in the eroding sandstone.

You will find ancient petroglyphs, massive rock arches, and panoramic viewpoints scattered throughout the reserve. Walking between these sites is not feasible for a day trip, so visitors rely on Bedouin-driven vehicles.
